You%26#39;ll have to be more precise as to %26quot;good prices%26quot;. Many people consider Grand Vefour or Tour d%26#39;Argent to have %26quot;good prices%26quot;....

I would like to be able to have an excellent complete dinner for 2 people with wine for under $100 . Is this possible in Paris these days?

|||

I would say that is possible only in a cafe or brasserie. I had dinner for one in an Alsation restaurant on the Champs and it came to $75.00, 2 beers, no wine with the fixed price menu.

Sadly, the plunge of the dollar will make that difficult. I think you%26#39;re probably looking @ $150 for %26quot;wonderful%26quot; food. But I%26#39;m sure others w/ far more expertise than I could recommend the best %26quot;budget%26quot; eateries. We got stuck for about $150/night in October, but the food WAS wonderful, and food was probably the biggest part of our time in Paris, the Loire %26amp; Burgundy.

Au Bon Accueil (7th), Le Tastevin (Isle St. Louis) %26amp; Les Ormes (7th - sadly, since closed - best meal we had in Paris!). We did have dinner at Tribeca on Rue Cler one night that was pretty good (and our cheapest dinner that week), but would I call it wonderful? No, but it was pretty good.

I like this website. You can search by district and price, among other things. Follow the hearts, you don%26#39;t need to read much French, if any.

The reviews are spot on, based on those places I know and others have recommended. A Pudlo guide is a good investment, too. I think %26quot;good%26quot; prices now would be under 50 euros per person for dinner with a pitcher of house wine or a modestly priced bottle. We%26#39;ll find out when we go in a couple weeks how badly the weak dollar has affected prices since last time.

Remember to order a carafe of water. Bottled water is ridiculous.

Try Polidor on tue Monsieur le Prince, it is very good and affordable with lively ambiance. They serce typical French food.

For 100 $ wichi is 60 Euros today, you can have a meal but be careful with wine!

I also like Balzar rue des Ecoles and La Bastide Odeon near Luxembourg garden. Le petit Zinc is a good choice too. Look at the menu which is posted outside, peak in to get a feel for ambiance and then decide. The good thing is that Paris is all non smoking now so you can eat in cafes. Their plat du jour are very good.

4/11 Insulaire $53.83 (34.00 e) - dinner

4/12 La Gentilhom $23.59 (14.90 e) - drinks

4/14 Le Colimacon $106.08 (67.00 e) - dinner

4/14 Labourdine $37.93 (24.00 e) - drinks

4/14 Pre Aux Clercs $22.40 (35.40 e) - drinks...2 hot wines!

I also enjoy great value dining - excellent traditional Parisian cuisine at very reasonable prices. I can therefore recommend my favourite places to dine in the Latin Quarter:

L%26#39;Époque on rue du Cardinal-Lemoine

Au Bon Coin on rue de la Collégiale

Le Jardin d%26#39;Ivy on rue Mouffetard

Bon appetit!

|||

Also in the Latin Quarter, Le Borbon for salad and moules frites and wine (38.50 euros).
