We toured the newly uncovered and opened Maisy Batterie this past weekend. It continues to be a work in progress, but was most interesting and adds some new insights to D Day and the aftermath.
I googled Maisy Batterie and came up with this http://www.armourer.co.uk/maisybattery.htm
It was well worth a visit.

I have just returned from a long weekend looking at the D-Day beaches. Something I have wanted to do for years. We stayed at Au Petite Mareyeur in Grandcamp Maisy. It was a perfect base - typical French - clean and good value. They also do an excellent 4 course lunch for just 10 euros it seems to be full of locals. From here, it was a 5 minute walk to the Maisy Batterie. I can fully endorse Joan’s comments above. We were fortunate to meet Gary Stern, who uncovered the site, if you get a chance to speak with him, do! He was very happy to give us a history lesson. It was amazing, he is so enthusiastic. After that we went to Omaha Beach, American Cemetery and Longes sur Mer. We are now planning to return for longer trip next year.....there is so much to see and take in.

Just came back from a week visit at normandy.
We stayed at a place called Osmanville that is situated 10 mins from the Maisy Batterie.
Talked to Gary Stern and yes he%26#39;s really enthousiastic about the site and the history of the place. He told us that he discovered the site when examening the ranges of the coastal guns at Pointe du Hoc and Asseville and found out that there should be a third batterie to cover the ranges between pointe du hoc and Asseville. Then when getting hold on aerial pictures from world war 2 he found the site and decided to buy the propertie and excavate the place. He also told me that he starts building a museum next tuesday mai 6, also a landingcraft will at the site at the same day. Interessting site and i%26#39;am planning to visit him next year to see the progress on the excavations.
Cheers.
Gerald
