Off to Paris

Well Paris here we come! Flying out tomorrow morning - cant wait! After much consideration and surfing of TA, we have decided to take a taxi to our hotel rather than try public transport. I will post about our trip when we get back.

Thanks. My husband and I are both going to Paris for the first time in over 20 years, to %26quot;celebrate%26quot; my turning 40! I hope it lives up to our high expectations after all these weeks trawling TA!

Happy Birthday! Have a wonderful trip. There is just something special about Paris. I remember one day I had scheduled a walk through Parc Monceau. The weather was just horrible that day--raining hard, windy. I had my unbrella open and it just kept wanting to turn inside out. I got to the Parc and, because I had a completely filled schedule on my trip, decided that I was either going to see the parc then or not at all. I walked through that parc in the rain. Interestingly, I saw so many french people in the parc--a huge group of school kids there on a field trip, joggers, people cutting across the parc to get to lunch, work, home. The parc is beautiful. It has some historical plaques of events from the past and has lush vegetation, a little bridge, etc. I am so glad I decided to walk through the parc that day. The point I want to make is that even when things don%26#39;t go right--when you are in Paris it somehow works out. I seem to enjoy even the things that--if I were home--I might experience as disappointments.

Don%26#39;t worry. You are most likely going to have a fabulous trip.

Good choice to take a taxi to your hotel. (I usually take a shuttle because for just one person it is cheaper than a taxi and it still takes me directly to my apartment. But either way, it is better than using the Metro with your suitcases. It isn%26#39;t fun doing all of the Metro stairs with suitcases--and I love the Metro.)
