Bairritz to northern spain

I%26#39;m flying into Biarritz but want to hire a car to go to Northern Spain

Does anyone know if there are there any problems with this?

Do I have to pay a premium and how do I notify the hire company if I book over the net?

I don%26#39;t think it matters to the rental company - I think the premium would only apply if you want to drop off the car in Spain. As far as I know, when you pick up the car, you will need to mention that you will be driving into Spain because legally, drivers in Spain have to have high-visibility safety jackets in the car, so the car hire company will provide them (they might be an %26#39;additional requirement%26#39; on the booking form?).

I can%26#39;t remember what it was about now, but I remember once e-mailing ?Avis in the UK to confirm some detail about their requirements for car hire in Italy, which wasn%26#39;t clear in the small print, so you could do that to be on the safe side?
