Will be traveling with my wife and two teenage kids from Paris to Beaune in June. Looking at train schedule. Not sure if time I want is available. Anyone have any advice on renting a car and driving? How much time does the trip take via car? Thank you.

If you have more than 3.50 hours to spend in the traffic jams when you start leaving Paris and on the motorways, go for the car!
But I always advise to take a TGV (1h40 to Dijon + 15-20min to Beaune).
Have a stop in Dijon if you can, discover the town center which is 5 min walk from the railway station and then take a train (or a bus) to Beaune. :-)

Thanks Happy. I also posted the question on the Paris forum and was told it would be about 3 -1/2 hours by car. Train 2 hours. But it sounds to me that 3 1/2 hours is without traffic. Train sounds good especially since it will be my first time in France. Thank you.

Happy- Can you tell me where you are getting 1H40 minutes from Paris to Dijon. All the TGV%26#39;s I see are 2H40+. Thank you.

Lewis%26amp;clark,
all TGV´s to Dijon I see at the SNCF website need between 1 h 37 min and 1 h 52 min... where are you looking? Or do you mean to Beaune?

I%26#39;m looking at www.raileurope.com I%26#39;ve pasted their schedule below.I am looking at Dijon from Paris. I realize I will have to switch trains in Dijon to Beaune.
12:27PM /28 Jun
PARIS GARE LYON
3:15PM / 28 Jun
DIJON VILLE
2:48

You searched the only non-TGV train of the day as it looks. Is it the only train connection the RailEurope website shows? Anyways if you ever needed a demonstration that RailEurope is not worth the bandwidth they use, here it is. Why not use something more reasonable for schedule research, www.voyages-sncf.com for example?
|||
Yes. I%26#39;ve looked at that site also. But when I chose that train and filled out the necessary information, it does not show those trains available. Do you have a ph # I might call to find out?

No wonder - you are travelling in June! Of course you can´t book, nobody books as long in advance and it isn´t possible and isn´t necessary. It becomes possible I think 2 months before travelling date (and most people buy their tickets a couple of days before, it´s not an airline!)

altamiro said it all! there are 15 TGV a day going from Paris to Dijon. And about 13 trains (TER or Corail) from Dijon to Beaune.
http://www.voyages-sncf.com/ is the more accurate.
And now you can book up to 3 months in advance.:-)

Gentlemen-
Thank you very much. I am used to booking airlines far in advance. I appreciate your imput. As I%26#39;ve not traveled France I did not know the customs of rail travel.
