Chunnel tickets from Paris to London?

Is it best to purchase tickets for the Chunnel while in the States or when arrive in Paris?

thanks!

Hi - first of all, if you know the dates of your travel you should do it as soon as possible for the best chance at a bargain fare. You can do it on line on the Eurostar web site (sorry, but %26quot;chunnel%26quot; is the old term to refer to the tube under the Channel, not the train). I think you also can do it on the SNCF web site (see the MorganB instructions for how to do it).

Can%26#39;t tell whether you are going one way or roundtrip - even if one way, look at fares as though you wanted to go round trip (with a pretend return date) because often those are much less expensive than a one way ticket - just be sure the %26quot;real%26quot; part is the outbound, and throw away the second half.

You should be able to book about 90 days in advance of your travel date - do it as soon as you know your date, because if you wait you will get the last minute prices (always much higher) and if it%26#39;s at a popular time you also run the risk that a particular train will be sold out.

Good luck, and have fun with the planning.

Chunnel is usually taken to mean the car transporter shuttle that runs in the rail tunnel between Folkestone and Calais.

The passenger train service under the Channel is called the Eurostar. I do not know if you can get them in the States, but you can on the SNCF site.

I recently tried to buy Eurostar tickets for a day trip from Paris to London in November %26#39;08. I couldn%26#39;t buy them so far in advance on several of the websites I tried until I went to eurostar.com. Not only did I buy them for November, they were quite inexpensive. Only $54 each way. Go for it.

WOW!

did not know we were using %26quot;old%26quot; name for train under the Channel...

thanks so much everyone!!

we%26#39;ll check the websites and buy now if we can as we know date in October

we%26#39;re flying when we first arrive in Heathrow directly to Paris and then taking train back a few days later for the variety and convenience

thanks so much!!
