Itinerary Help

My wife and I will be vacationing in the French Riviera for a week at the end of July/beginning of August. Would it be a huge mistake to not rent a car? What would be a good itinerary if she and I choose not to rent a car but instead rely solely on trains/buses? Any help you can provide would be much appreciate. Thanks.

If you%26#39;re planning to visit some of the villages up in the hills, a car would be very useful. Some are difficult to reach by public transportation.

Depends where you are based. From Nice it is possible to get almost anywhere very cheaply by bus or train. All of the resorts along the coast and many places inland are accessible without a car. Early August is peak time and peak traffic, with parking very difficult in many places. I spend about eight weeks a year in Villefranche and rent a car for a total of about three days.
