Hello All,
I am very confused if I need to take Rail pass or point to point tickets. We are 2 people travelling together.
Point to point tickets cost me 340 USD.
Zurich - Venice
Venice - Pisa , Pisa - Rome
Rome - Paris
Paris - Amsterdam
If I go for Rail pass I will have to take 4 countries 5 days pass which is 446 USD and then the reservation cost ~ 100 USD whcih makes it 546 USD.
My Itenary is :
Switzerland - 4 days
Venice - 3 days
Rome - 3 days
Paris - 4 days
Amsterdam - 1 day
Should I take individual passes for each countries like swiss pass, paris metro pass for internal travels in these countries and take point to point tickets ??
Should I take 15 days 5 Countries pass ??
Thanks,
Winston

With the figures you have posted it becomes a no-brainer, as far as I%26#39;m concerned. I can%26#39;t imagine why you would even consider a rail pass when the point to point tickets will be cheaper.
BTW, the Paris Metro and the Rome Metro aren%26#39;t covered by any rail pass.

Thank you very much, I was not aware that Paris and Rome metro is not covered. Then it makes sense to buy point to point tickets.
1 more thing, are reservations made tru internet very expensive as compared to making them at the station ??

It might be worth checking on the Switzerland forum about the Swiss Passes, because some of them entitle you to reduced rates on the mountain railways and lifts - I think they can be cost-effective depending where you are going and what you plan to do.

yes I will be taking the Swiss rail pass as it entitles me for 50 % discount on te mountain trains
