lalandusse and lazun (near bergerac)

Hi,

this is a bit of a long shot as the village of lalandusse is very small ! We are thinking of renting a house near the village and I just wondered if anyone knew anything about what facilities there are in the village or in the Lazun which is a bit farther away. We wnat to have somewhere we can walk too for a coffee/drink/meal, thanks

You%26#39;ve not picked somewhere close to any facilities!

Lanlandousse - essentially nothing.

Lauzun - locals%26#39; bar, couple of small shops (including a Casino), boulangerie, hairdresser, agricultural supplies, garage and that%26#39;s about it.

You will not really be withinn walking distance of anywhere substantial; however there are LOADS of really interesting villages within say 10 miles if you want to cycle or car.

Have fun - we afre off to Segelas (near Lauzun) in a few days.

Thanks Big Geoff - your description is much as I expected, although the website for the houses we ave decided to go to did say there was a restaurant/cafe in lalandusse. We will have cars as well as bicycles available at the house. Hope you enjoy your holiday

HI, more info then....

Castillones is about the same distance as Lauzun and has much more to offer - a range of small town facilities including a very good (and good value) restaurant at Des Remparts.

Eymet for the Tuesday night market, (and the pizzeria in the marketplace is especially good), Isseageac for the Sunday market even though it is getting increasingly touristy by this time of year, Miramont, Villeneuve, Monpazier (especially) and any/all of the Bastide towns are worth visits.

For something fairly unique (I know, a thing is either unique or not but I hope you get my menaing!) go to see the Water Lily (nenuphar, en Francais) place at Temple sur Lot - they provided all the stuff for Monet%26#39;s garden and have a copy of his pond as well as hundreds of plants on disply.

Enjoy!

I forgot to mention the Indian Restaurant in Lauzun - surprisingly good, and that is from a resident of Bradford where we can choose from over 200 %26#39;Indian%26#39; restaurants.

The other resto in Lauzun, Le Lion d%26#39;Or, is a typical village resto - coutry food at coutry prices but don%26#39;t expect fine linen or silver service.

Big Geoff - you certainly seem to know the area pretty well - I take it you holiday there regularly. We have quite a big group going - 14 adults and 8 children ranging in age from 7-18, so finding suitable accomodation wasn%26#39;t that easy. We will probably not try to tear around anywhere in a big hurry. In theory there is a bridle way to Lazun which would be nice with the bikes. The Monet bit sounds good - i am sure a few of us will be interested in that as well as the other local towns.

Thanks for the info
