ideas for activities for non ski-ers in winter

Have been to Chamonix numerous times in the summer and love the place, would like to visit and experience the town in winter (Feb school holidays), but what is there to do in winter for a family of non-skiers? We would be reliant on public transport.

My teenage daughter would love to experience a dog sled ride and I enjoy walking and landscape photography.

In summer we like to be fairly active and enjoy going up in the cable cars and walking the grand balcon nord/sud/mer de glac etc, riding the luge, the tree adventure, ice skating or just relaxing around the outdoor pool at the leisure centre.

Not sure about the dog sleds but you can take the lifts upto the mid or top stations.

From the mid stations you can walk or snowshoe along the trails.

There is paraponting , you will have seen the guys doing this.

The indoor pool is open.

and the ice rink, indoor climbing wall at Les Houches, 10 pin bowling. Also plenty of sledging opportunities. There are some lovely walks through the woods to restaurant. There is guiding available to take you snow shoeing or you can just head off and explore.

There is a bus through to Courmayeur, where you can find fantastic italian food, and a spa baths at Pre St Didier (lounging in hot water outdoor pool looking up at the mountains.

Snowshoeing, glacier walking, ice climbing (beginners no problem, and very exciting!) husky sledging, there%26#39;s loads...Do you not fancy trying out some skiiing or boarding lessons? Or maybe try cross country skiing, that%26#39;s very easy and there are some lovely scenic trails. I%26#39;ve been several times with non-skiiers in winter and we%26#39;ve always had a good time. Last time we treated our parents to a helicopter ride around Mont Blanc which was brilliant.
