First timers need help

We are a party of 6 adults(3 couples)sailing from Narbonne to Carcasson June 8th to June 15th 2008. We are already laughing at the prospect of this eagerly awaited %26#39;first time%26#39; boating holiday. We would really appreciate any help/comments related to buying provisions, places to stop, eat etc. Also, the females amongst us are wondering (even fretting)about drying hair! we know we cannot use hair dryers or hair straighteners on the boat what are the alternatives?(apart from having short hair cuts or head shaves)

Any advise as to the best way to get from Perpignan airport to Narbonne would also be helpful.

I assume you are taking the Canal de la Robine from Narbonne, joining the Canal du Midi for continued travel westbound to Carcassonne.

I have advised others on this forum to avoid this segment (Canal de la Robine) due to a serious lack of facilities. Once you have joined the Canal du Midi, traveling should become more interesting with more to visit and enjoy.

You should have received a canal guide from your rental company outlining route highlights: restaurants, monuments, and other points of interest.

There is not sufficient voltage available on board a rental boat to operate hair dryers or curling irons. The alternatives are scarves and head bans.

For transportation options to the boat base from the Perpignan airport, I recommend you contact the boat rental base. They should have the most current and pertinent information.

Thank you for your prompt response, I will certainly check out your blogs. We have had a little info from the boat company, however, I enjoy hearing from %26#39;real%26#39; people who often have useful tips and helpful suggestions.
