My daughter and I are going to ski for about two weeks. From your experiences, what are your favorite ski areas and in particular do you have a favorite run in each area? How is the trail from La Rosiere to La Thuile?
Any interesting side trips to spend a day or two away from skiing? Thanks,
Mike

Hi,
Apart from the obvious area of Les Arcs, you will also enjoy the ski areas of La Rosiere/La Thuile, both of these are suited to all level of skier/boarder with a choice of easy cruising runs,to more challenging pistes(in my opinion maybe La Thuile has the ore testing pistes with some of the runs towards the bottom leading to the town quite interesting indeed). Also on the La Thuile side is the Le Riondet restaurants which is one of the best slope side restaurants in the area, although you will be ard pushed to have a bad meal anywhere in the Tarentaise area).
Also within easy reach of BsM is Ste.Foy which was an undiscovered gem maybe 15 years ago and is popular with locals and tourists alike, although with only around 25km of pistes it is small by other standards it rewards all who go for the day with excellent skiing and off piste(the off piste here should definately only be done with a qualified guide as fatalities do happen),there are also two or three excellent places to eat aswell.
At the furthest end of the valley is Tignes %26amp; Val D%26#39;Isere and just on from there he small hamlet of Le Fornet which is linked into the Tignes and Val D%26#39;Isere area of L%26#39;Espace Killy.
On the subject of other things to do if i am having a day away from skiing,or a trip for a day in summer ,about 1hr 30mins drive away is Lake annecy,if you follow the road by the lake eventually you will come to a round about that if you turn left up the hill takes you round by the hospital, but if you drive straight over you will after a couple of hundred yards come to a car park (there is also an underground carpark a little further on ) near the bridge over the river that the lake feeds, from here you can explore the wonderfull old streets/shops,cafe%26#39;s etc of the old part of Annecy which looks like it has come straight from the pages of a charles dickens novel.
If you go to my email address on my website www.ski-bourgstmaurice-lesarcs.co.uk and give me you%26#39;re email address i will send you google earth map of Bourg-Saint-Maurice with all the supermarkets, restaurants etc and other places such as lift pass office etc.
I hope some of this is of help to you and if you have anymore questions will only be to glad to try and help.
Many Regards
Jon.

Hi Mike,
I agree with everything Jon says. I%26#39;d also add that Tignes (my personal fave as I live here!) lays on quite a lot of non-skiing activity that may take your fancy - husky dog sledging around the frozen lake, ice diving beneath the lake, skating, bowling, parapenting, ice-karting, guided snow-shoe walking. If you check out the %26#39;Evolution 2 ecole d%26#39;aventure%26#39; website for Tignes (www.evolution2.com/tignes/gb/default.asp) you should find more on most of these.
Also, La Plagne has an (Olympic) bob-sleigh run that you can do in a variety of ways. It costs you about 1 Euro per second on the ice but I%26#39;m glad I did it once!
Oh, and favourite runs... From the Tignes Grande Motte down the reds into Val Claret, and the Face de Bellevarde in Val d%26#39;Isere is a classic. To be honest, there%26#39;s so much nice skiing in the Espace Killy it%26#39;s lovely just to cruise around.
Cheers,
Matt
