Though you probably already know about Cordes sur Ciel, I think it is one of the most interesting destinations in the area. Not yet fully restored as are some of the more popular destinations in Provence, Cordes has great charm. As interest grows in the area, I believe property values will grow and tourism flourish in this old city.

You might want to read this thread. The restaurant I recommended was so great!

thanks guys...we%26#39;ve done cordes, always a good place to take visiting friends...we%26#39;ve also found another really nice bastide villiage called Puycelsi. its a bit further down the road and hasnt been overtaken by restaurants like cordes has but its in a lovley position overlooking the forest at Greisigny (sp?|) so is really worth a look next time you can get accross. will have a look for the restaurant near the cantpau hotel too...cheers et a bientot.

Hello all

My wife and I are coming to Albi for two weeks in August/September. This is a part of France we have never visisted and it looks beautiful

We will be flying into Toulouse from Bristol and then will catch the train to Albi - so a couple of questions please:

1 Is is relatively straightforward to get from Toulouse airport to the station and are the trains reasonably frequent?

2 We may hire a car for a few days whilst in Albi, are there car hire places in the town? Supplementary! Is it a good idea to hire a car, or can you get around ok by bus and train?

Thanks

Peter

There is a bus from the airport to the train station.

There are all the obvious one and you can hire from the train station with AVIS.

I would hire a car for the 2 weeks from the airport as there is so much to see and by the time you hire a car for a few days and then take trains you will find it is easier to hire a car.

We are currently in Albi and today visited Chateau du Bosc where Toulouse-Lautrec was born and grew up. His great grand niece and family still live there. About 40km outside of Albi and well worth the trip.

Thanks Frenchentree, that%26#39;s really helpful
