CDG and TGV arrival advice

We are going to France for our honeymoon and will being leaving from CDG on May 31st. I am unsure on what to do I would like some advice.

I see two choices on making my departing flight with American Airlines out of CDG. The flight is departing at 2:40 PM.

1. We can take the TGV in Paris the night before and stay at the airport.

2. We can stay an extra night in St Remy de Provence and take the TGV from Avignon in the morning.

We liked the second option more, so we are looking at taking the TGV from Avignon at 6:47 am arriving at CDG at 9:59 am. Is there enough time to go thru check in, secuity, etc...

How realiable and on time is the TGV...is it common to be late and by how much time.

Are we cutting it too close??

Should we stay the night at CDG??

TGV are very prompt. Sometimes 10 mins late or so but nothing more. You will have more than enough time at CDG doing it that way. 2 to 3 hours is enough time at CDG and you have 4 1/2 hours so you have some padding there. The only thing to keep an eye out for is train strikes. The do schedule them with a beginning and end and announce them ahead of time so you could make alternate plans. I havent heard any rumblings of a strike lately so you should be fine.

You know AA code shares with the SNCF? They can actually sell you your train ticket all on the same booking. If your train is canceled or late for any reason it would be just like a misconnect on a flight. You would have to book the train at the same time as your tickets so its probably too late for you but something to know for next time.
