1. Museums on %26#39;Free%26#39; Days

2. Not using %26quot;bonjour/bonsoir/merci%26quot; when appropriate

3. Wearing sneakers to dinner

4. Bringing your mother-in-law with you

5. The aggressive vendors at Montmartre and Eiffel Tower

That%26#39;s all I can think of now. Help me complete the rest of the list!

6. Touching/picking up things in shops and at the markets.

7. Petting people%26#39;s dogs without asking permission.

8. Not making reservations in restaurants whenever possible. They really appreciate reservations in Paris!

9. Loud talking/laughing in restaurants.

10. Hollering for your wait person. All you have to do is catch their eye. They%26#39;ll get to you as soon as they can.

djk, #7 was very apropros for me as I was reading it earlier tonight at an Apple store (while DH was shopping for his IMAC) when a group of 4 grown-ups approached my dogs and attempted to pet them behind my back (literally -I had my back to them as I was scrolling through TA on the computer). I ALWAYS ask or gesture for permission from owners to approach their Yorkies in Paris.

* Marathon, a restaurant located in the alley behind St. Severin

* Bracelet brigade at the Sacre Couer

* Fake taxi drivers approaching you at CDG to take you into Paris for a really good rate

* The sandwich cart at Trocadero in the summer (you can see gnats flying inside the glass case)

* Gypsy women at the Eiffel and Arc de Triomphe

All of fore mentioned are very good.

Getting frustrated with anyone who does not speak English, better to be frustrated with yourself for not speaking French!

Talking( rudely) about the servers, or anyone really in front of them assuming they won%26#39;t understand you. They often do.

Taking expensive and needless bus tours around Paris, most sites can and should be done on your own, this goes for serveral day trips also.( Chartes and Versailles for instance)

Worrying that the Parisians care what you are wearing, as long as decent they don%26#39;t care .

Walking around with your tourbook in hand- free advertising where you are from

Eating on rue de la Hucette on first night in Paris

The temptation to eat at McDs, Pizza Hut or KFC while in Paris.

Eating the same item (ie steak and frites) over and over.

Disneyland. Okay this one is just for me.

-have to disagree on free museum sundays. Key is go 30 minutes AFTER opening and not to linger.

Any restaurant where somebody walks up to you and tries to get you to come in. Many of these are in the Latin Quarter, especially Rue de la Huchette.

Anybody who walks up to you and tries to get you to look at something.

The cafeteria at Versailles.

Tabacs in tourist areas.

Losing or throwing away your Metro ticket before you%26#39;ve passed through the barrier at the end of your journey. There are random ticket inspections and those not in possession of a validated ticket will be fined. Those who do not often use public transport at home are not always aware of this, as some threads here have shown.
