Carnet, Paris Pass or Carte Orange

I am going to be in Paris from Monday to Thursday or Friday. Should I get Carnet, Paris Pass or Carte Orange ? Can a foreign get a Carte Orange? Which zone ticket should I get, I know I would like to visit Versailles.

My wife and I have just come back from a 5 day trip to Paris. We weighed up most of the options you have suggested and we opted for the carnet ticket. Each of the ten tickets will get you almost anywhere on the Paris metro network. I doubt if Versailles can be reached on a metro ticket, I think it%26#39;s on RER line C but if you go to the paris metro website you%26#39;ll see for sure. I believe you can get a Carte Orange as a foreigner. Enjoy!

NuNu,

Carte Orange is, for the most part, gone - search Carte Orange - they%26#39;re instituted a card similar to the London %26quot;Oyster%26quot; card. For only 4-5 days, a Carnet should be fine, if you run out of tickets, you can by another Carnet. Personally, I%26#39;ve never thought the Paris Pass was worth the money, but for many it%26#39;s convenient. Most of what you%26#39;ll want to see (except Versailles) is in Zone 1 - buying add%26#39;l zones doesn%26#39;t seem to make sense.

A Carnet Metro ticket will not get you to Versailles. You%26#39;ll need to take the RER-C line. It%26#39;s easy to buy the roundtrip ticket at an RER station, I think they also have an all-inclusive ticket you can buy which includes the round-trip fare and the admission to the Chateau. Not sure, haven%26#39;t been to Versailles since 2002.

Thank you for your info but still not too sure is it cheaper to buy Carnet or Carte Orange for my trip in Paris Monday - Friday. Friday flying back to Chicago.

Is it easy to buy Carte Orange at the time I arrived Paris? Thanks!

NuNu,

Unless you can specifically tell us how many trips you plan on taking over the week, no one can tell you whether a carnet of tickets or a weekly ticket will be cheaper.

I personally like the convenience of a weekly ticket even if it may not always add up financially.

Are you aware that the Carte d%26#39;Orange is/has being phased out in favour of the Navigo Decouverte cards? You may find that a Carte d%26#39;Orange is no longer an option.

|||

Paris Pass, do you mean Paris Visite?

|||

The Navigo Decouverte will cost you €5 plus €16.30, whereas each carnet is €11.10 or €1.11/ride.

Theoretically, you would have to ride 19 times to break even, or 4-5 times a day over four days.

If it were me, I%26#39;d go for the Navigo Decouverte for the convenience, and for not having to worry about those little tickets or using them up.

If you plan to go all over, you can easily use up 4-5 tickets a day.

When we%26#39;re in Paris, despite ourselves, we walk a LOT. Hopping on a bus saves time and energy. And, you get to see more.

Say you are going to Montmartre. You take the metro there, then the finicular, then the metro back or to somewhere else. With tickets, you may want to %26quot;save%26quot; them, or just not use them and walk instead. Whereas with the Navigo, you can just hop on Montmartrobus (to see more and avoid those killer hills) as often as you like.
