I want to book a Dover to Calais ferry for 2 of us in our motorhome. I wondered if anyone knows why P%26amp;O costs double the Sea France ticket? I have not had to book before so need someone to enlighten me! Obviously want to book Sea France purely on price alone unless I am missing something. Thanks in advance.

They all cost more or less the same - you just have to specify the right time to find the low fare

You are only looking at a sea trip of about 90 minutes, so I would go for the cheaper option without a doubt! Even if the facilities on the SeaFrance ship are not as good, it%26#39;s not for long...

A motorhome will need overheight space and loads along with the coaches, lorries, caravans, cars with roof-racks, etc. I%26#39;d guess that ferry companies compete strongly for their %26#39;normal%26#39; spaces, then charge whatever they can for the specials. We%26#39;ve travelled with Sea France with a roof rack and found the prices are better if you travel mid-afternoon (which might suit you nicely if you%26#39;re travelling from Yorkshire and are happy to spend your first night in northern France). I think P%26amp;O has more frequent sailings, so may feel they can charge more for the convenience?
As a previous poster suggested, try a variety of crossing times until you come up with the lowest price at your best time.

You have lots of options travelling by ferries to france..:) Dude you can book online at any of the ferry operators website and get cheap ferry deals. For cheap ferry deals book early and try to book ferries in non peak hours. you can check out www.norfolkline.com as they offer real cheap ferry prices and they provide good hospitality too...i can say that based on my personal experience

try ferrysavers.com also for multiple ferrycompany/time/date/travel options

Speedferries between Dover and Boulogne are now our operator/route of choice, and I think we%26#39;ve tried most of them over the years. Speedferries don%26#39;t have that many departures, but they%26#39;re fast and cheap and, if you%26#39;re spending your last night in France almost at the ports, Boulogne is approximately 419 times as pleasant as Calais!
