O.K ,I have found a great rate for The Keppler Hotel in the 16th arrondissement.....
I LOVE the look of the hotel and TA reviews are great, but would I be insane to stay in this position?
It is not particularly near any of the sights or areas I was planning on visiting and restaurants in the area are apparently of the upscale/expensive variety...
Please convince me this area is good(or otherwise...!)

It is close to a couple of metro stations, from there anywhere in Paris is a few minutes away.

My parents stayed there earlier this month for a night when when their hotel had trouble accomodating them due to the snow and really liked it. My mom said she%26#39;d stay in either hotel again (both in that area) in a heartbeat.

The reviews were awesome. I like the fact it was recently renovated. May I ask what rate they quoted, and did you opt for an Executive King room? We stayed in that general area a few years ago and really like it. We would head off to the tourist areas in central Paris by walking down the Champs-Elysees each morning. Just two metro stations to Tracadero. We would sit on the steps and watch the Eiffel Tower twinkle at night.

GTA hotels (British website) is showing good rates. I still am not convinced about the area though. We will only have 3 nights in Paris and I%26#39;m not sure I want to spend my whole time on the Metro heading to other locations......
Any other comments would be appreciated!

Citadines Saint-Germain-des-Pres, was recently renovated and received very good reviews. This location is about as good as it gets. It%26#39;s not a hotel, but an apartment-hotel.
This is a list of some hotels in the Marais area with a link to 4 star and some budget hotels. All of the 4 star received good reviews, but one of the budget hotels appear to be a fraud. This is a very popular area. It also has a nice link to some of the local restaurants.

These are in or near the 5th e. They are under 200€ and 3 of the hotels are in a more central area to the sites you may be looking for in Paris.
