Hello:
My wife and I are going to visit Nice in middle of May, and to stay at Hotel La Perouse.
What is the best way from airport to the hotel?
We may have some luggage bags. Does airport bus No 98(?) run close the hotel La Perouse?
We are mid-40%26#39;s and wine lovers. Could you recommend good, descent restaurant or bistro near the hotel?
Is the hotel restaurant good?
In addition, we%26#39;re going to stay four nights there. Could you recommend any daytrip from Nice? I%26#39;m considering one day trip for Monaco, and any other place worth visiting?
Looking forward to good advice from Nice experts...

hotel la perouse is a 3 star hotel as you probably know and I stay in 3 stars when visiting Nice which I do quite often. It is not my favorite, I would prefer Windsor or Villa Victoria but La Perouse is well located easterly near the old town and the harbor. If you have luggage, the easiest way is to take a taxi to your hotel but if you take the airport express to the bus station you will be near your hotel. Where to eat, just fall out the front door. Go to the old town, basically across the wide boulevard. Lunch at La Voglia, get there by noon or stand in line...orders are on the large side so share or bring an appetite. Also in the old town, Acchiarda (spelling) and Table Aziarda medium priced and good and Chez Julliette, marvelous and if you want to splurge a little, my favorite, Le Tire Buchon. Hope this helps. Oh yes, I guess everyone wants to see Monaco at least to say they have been there. 1/2 a day will do. Ville Franche, Cap Farrat and the villa rothschild can be done easily. The train will take you to all of these places and it is a short ride. In the other direction, a bus from the bus station will take you to St. Paul de Vence in the mountains...charming...also very nearby is the famous Maight musee. YOu can do this in one day easily.

You can take the Number 98 bus from the airport and get off on the Promenade des Anglais just as it gets to Le Meridien Hotel and walk from there to La Perouse - about a 10 minute walk.
I enjoy eating at La Tapenade on rue Sainte-Réparate which is only a 10 minute walk from your hotel. It is a moderately priced restaurant that serves traditional Niçoise cuisine in a relaxed, informal setting.
One place worth visiting is Saint-Paul-de-Vence in the hills behind Nice. You can get there by regular bus service from the Gare Routiere. It is a beautiful small hill town with narrow streets populated by artists%26#39; studios with superb views of the surrounding countryside.

Although it does not score highly on TA many people consider La Perouse to be the best hotel in Nice. If you can afford their prices I should have thought you might consider getting a taxi at 35 euros or so from the airport.
There are many, many good restaurants near the hotel and decent food is available at 15 to 20 euros for three courses. Don%26#39;t know how well you know France but best value in most restaurants is Le Menu, where you have limited choice but usually get three courses for the same price or less than one on the a la carte. As everywhere else, hotel restaurants are not good value.
You should feel at home in Monaco as there are many tower blocks. More French and historic are places such as Villefranche, Cap Ferrat and Eze Village, all easily accessible in 20 minutes or so from Nice bus station, fare one euro paid to the driver.
I have often stayed at the Chosun and the Hilton in Seoul. You will find French hotels and particularly their idea of service, completely different!

Thank you all the replys.
Your comments will be big help.
I cant%26#39;t speak a word of French, so I think I need to learn basic French conversation before the travel.
All your advice will do good.

I found Eze the nicest day trip from Nice, also try a trip on the train des Pignes to Entrevaux to see the walled mediaeval city there.
