I%26#39;d appreciate any thoughts/suggestions as to best way(s) to travel from Paris to Normandy (D-Day sights). Is train available? Bus? Thanks.

Hi Flossie, I just had a lot of help from the wonderful posters on this forum. They walked me through the process of buying train tickets on line. You have to take the TGV train out of Paris. Do a search and lots of stuff comes up. For very specific advice MorganB and TravelNutty gave very good advice. If you plug in TGV help, something should come up then ask your specific questions.

Very simple by train. Gare St. Lazare to Bayeux. About two hours. No reservations necessary.
Just show up at the station ticket windows and don%26#39;t forget to ask if any promotional rates asre available.

Hi Flossie! My husband and just returned from Paris/London last night. We did a one day trip to Normandy that was wonderful (and very tiring, we%26#39;re in our 30%26#39;s). We ordered our train tickets to Caen online and our Normandy tour tickets online through the Caen Memorial. Our tour started at 2pm and lasted 5 hours. Tour tickets were 69 Euros each. Surprisingly it went very fast and was quite good. Take the 7am train if you can, and the 7:55 train back to Paris. We couldn%26#39;t get the early train and had to take the 8:40am? which didn%26#39;t give us enough time to eat and really see the Memorial Museum. My advice is to arrive at least 40 min. early to St. Lazare b/c our credit card wouldn%26#39;t work in the yellow machines to collect our tickets we had ordered online and the customer service ticket line was a long wait. I know others who have also had problems getting the yellow machines to recognize their cards. Also, we ordered our tour through Caen Memorial.

Thanks very much

Has anyone taken a tour to Normandy right from Paris? The train way is good for someone younger than me; and my companion is 70.
There was a tour, (expensive), but sounded good, lasting about 10 hours.
Is it worth it?
Thanx
