Apartment website bed size question

I keep seeing these two dimensions on the apartment websites when describing the size bed.

(160*200) or (140*200)

Thinking about actually taking a chance this time and staying at an apartment this next trip instead of a hotel. So many websites...

Those numbers are bed sizes in centimeters. 160 = 63 inches wide. 140 = 55 inches wide. Both beds are 200 = 79 inches long.

Unless you are alone or madly in love, I would go with the 160 centimeter width!

Thank you...we sleep on a king at home so going to a queen is always difficult. know of any apts. with king size beds?

If you are thinking about staying in an apartment, it%26#39;s really best to book your airline tickets first.

Booking an apartment requires a significant deposit and agreeing to a restrictive cancellation policy. Some require an additional security deposit. Many require payment in full before date of arrival.

Once you%26#39;ve booked an apartment, you%26#39;re stuck with those dates for air fares. Even if you%26#39;ve shopped fares, by the time you finalize your apartment, the fares will likely have changed. Then, you%26#39;re wondering whether to grab or wait and pray.

I think it%26#39;s better to shop fares, pounce on a good one when you see it, then firm up a hotel or apartment. More often than not, when I%26#39;ve found a favorable fare, it%26#39;s not there next time I look.

It%26#39;s a good idea to purchase travel insurance should you have to cancel your trip for some reason beyond the point of any refund on an apartment.

Note also that it%26#39;s more difficult to find an apartment with a/c at a reasonable rate than a hotel room...

However, air conditioning may not be so essential in an apartment depending on sun exposure and configuration of windows for cross ventilation.

When shopping apartments, don%26#39;t overlook whether there%26#39;s an elevator, and so forth.

Magic,

I don%26#39;t know about apartments, but usually in hotels when they refer to %26quot;two twins/two singles%26quot; they push them together for the size of a king.

The only kings I have seen in Europe hotels are in American chain hotels like Sheraton or Hilton.

I think the only places that cost less than €500 per night that will have king sized beds will be the American chains, and not all of them. You%26#39;ll just have to go to the web sites and check them out, one by one until you find what you%26#39;re looking for.

I%26#39;ve never heard of an apartment with a king, but I%26#39;m sure that anyone who has, will post.

You can find King beds in apts. and hotels, they are just a tad harder to find (rooms tend to be too small for them). They will be 180x200. I%26#39;ve never found a California King bed here. That is not to say they don%26#39;t exist.

Last September, I booked the Hilton Paris with Hotwire for $120/night.

We were given a room with a view of the Tour Eiffel so close you could almost reach out and touch it from our balcony. We actually asked to be moved to the other side of the hotel because of the soccer fans in Champs de Mars, and the bottom half of the Tour was lit up in awful green at night.

Our room on the %26quot;garden%26quot; side with a balcony was magnificent. HUGE room with comfy, very comfy, king bed. Brand new decor and marble bathroom. The one day we turned on the a/c it was efficient and soundless.

Though this would not have been our first choice for location or charm, for that ridiculously low rate we didn%26#39;t care.

Thank you all so much for all the tips...especially to book your airfare before you book the apt. also the tip on hotwire I never have used them but I will take a look. I am really looking to see where to get the best bang for the buck. So I am looking at everything this time around.
