Paris to mont st.michel via Loire

We are planning on traveling From Paris to mont st. michel on May 25th (sunday). We will leave at around 9:00 am. What route should we take? we would like to catch at least a little of the castle country from the window of the car, maybe have lunch in a small town, quickly visit one castle, and get to Mont St Michel by dark. Is there a castle that has a restaurant? Atmosphere it very important. I know that we could easily spend a few days on this itinery but time does not allow

Have you checked out google maps? You can work out travel times for different routes. We have just returned from France but drove to Mont S M via Bayeux. We took a few days so not sure how you would do it in a day although I know that there are tour buses that go from Paris for day trips. The motorways are great and if you have a GPS I would advise taking it ( with France maps of course).

You need to check the tide times for MSM as it looks quite different on the high and low tides. you can google this info.

The Loire Valley is a massive area, and almost as far away from Paris in a Southerly direction as Le Mont is in a Northerly direction.

IF you only have one day/night you are just NOT going to get to the Loire and Le Mont.

FORGET the Loire, and perhaps go via Versailles, OR take a day out from Paris to go to Versailles for your Chateau-fix.

Alternatively you could consider going to Chantilly en-route, but it will still be a bit out of the way.

There are several small Chateau in Northern France where you can stay overnight, and eat gourmet meals, you may find some relevant information if you do a forum search.

I have done a little research. Paris to Tours to MSM is about 4 hours. If you left very early in the morning, you could be in the Loire by late morning. Time for one chateau, then on the road for a couple more hours to get to MSM early evening. Next day at MSM

Sorry, hit enter too quickly.

I would suggest Amboise along the way, great chateau in a nice small town. Then back on the motorway and off you go
