safe accomodation for female student

I am 23 y/o and taking my first trip to Europe. I can only spend at the most $75 per night. What are some reputable(safe, clean, nice) hostels or any open universities during the summer? I am hoping to stay as central to downtown as possible so I can walk to most places. Any info would be great!

Hi --

Your US$75 is the equivalent of about €45 at todays rate - try venere.com as well as Ibis hotels - Ibis has a discount rate for some advance bookings.

Safety isn%26#39;t really an issue in Paris. It%26#39;s a remarkably safe place - make your decision on the affordability and location of your hotel.

Bon voyage.

Google the %26quot; Perfect Hotel%26quot; it has hotel rooms with or without private washrooms, so they have some good rates, plus location is not bad. I have not stayed there personally so can only add to read the reviews on site here( enter name in search box on left) .

Also, hotel rates drop in August, so if your dates are flexible you will do better to come then. No , Paris will not be %26quot; all closed up%26quot; but it may be hot.

Paris has an excellent and safe public transport system. I%26#39;d recommend you find out about Paris buses at:

www.ratp.fr

They are a cheap way to get around (c.$2 per journey) and you will see far more from the window of a bus, than if you use the Metro.

Places to stay and eat in %26quot;downtown%26quot; Paris are more expensive - you could save money by staying in one of the outer arrondisements (or even out of town) and use public transport to get around. As a rough guide the arrondisements are numbered from 1 (%26quot;downtown%26quot;) and spiral outwards to 20.

Sorry - I should have explained you will see the arrondisement in the postal (zip) code, e.g. 75001 is in the centre of Paris, 75009 and above are further from the centre.

I%26#39;d possibly look around the Basille or Gobelins for somewhere to stay. These are still close enough to the centre, but with more reasonable prices.
