Grand Hôtel des Terreaux - Hotel Lyon

My wife and I will be spending 2 nights in Lyon in July. 2 questions please;

1) Grand Hotel des Teareaux sounds like a good place to stay, but can anyone advise if the have A/C installed as part of their recent renovations? Seems like a few people have commented that A/C is essential in July.

2)We fly back from Grenoble airport on Tuesday 15th ...what is best way to get from Lyon to Grenoble for a 3pm flight?

Grand Hôtel des Terreaux doesn%26#39;t have A/C.

The cheapest way to get back to Grenoble airport is to take the shuttle service: first to Saint-Exupéry airport, and then take and other bus to Grenoble airport (8,60 € first trip + 20 € second trip). There are 4 bus per hour to Saint-Exupéry and then 1 bus per hour to Grenoble.

The fastest way is to rent a car and drive!

Here are the fares and schedules info regarding the shuttle:

We just came back from a 3 nights stay at Grand Hotel des Terreaux. Our room (Corbeille - #104) does not have an A/C unit, however, my mother in law%26#39;s room (Balcon - #408) does have one. It looked like it was newly installed as it was still taped shut. I took pictures of both rooms and had written a review - you%26#39;ll be able to see it as soon as Tripadvisor posts it. Might be worth your while to inquire at the hotel.

Have fun!

Thanks for replies:

1) Is A/C essential in July....we come from Ireland where A/C definitely is not a requirement!!!

2) Car hire from Lyon to Grenoble runs at €150, so guess the shuttle coach is best. However, we wonder if there is a direct shuttle, rather than a 2 stage journey?

All help appreciated

If there have been a direct shuttle to Grenoble airport, I would have told you: no there isn%26#39;t, except special bus services in winter season (from part-Dieu train station to ski resorts with a stopover at Grenoble airport).

You know, we don%26#39;t have A/C at home, most French people cope without it, as there are only a few hot days in the year. Though July 2006 has been hot (over average temperatures), but July 2007 has not been warm at all. Of course people who are used to A/C, as most Americans who live in cities can%26#39;t go without, but I suppose that as an Irish you don%26#39;t either and probably experienced the 2006 heat weave (we were in Ireland that summer, know it has been hot), I am sure it will be fine for you.

As a traveller says the hotel is in the process of equiping a few rooms (it must be very recent because i have visited the rooms in summer 2007 and there was no A/C), you may ask for a room with A/C if it makes you feel more comfortable.
