Buses around lake Annecy.

I was wondering is it possible to get regular local buses around Lake Annecy? We will be in the town of Annecy for a few days and would like to use public transport to see some of the other towns on the lake. Any towns that are worthwhile seeing?

Are there boats that cross the lake from town to town?

No buses going round the lake but a boat service between the lakeside villages. No real towns as such, just lovely scenery and villages, some with lakeside walks, beach areas etc.

Are the boat fares expensive on the lake? Any particular village worth seeing either on the lake or by short bus trip inland?

|||

It%26#39;s not too dear - it is literally a bus-type service. The expensive trips are the evening ones around the lake which include dinner.

Chambery is worth visiting, and Chamonix. Going further afield - Lyon, Grenoble and Geneva

thanks k8387. We will be spending 3 days in Grenoble as part of our trip. Looking forward to it already.

When is your trip? If you return home before May 20, please post details about the Annecy area, including the boat service, restaurants, and sightseeing highlights. We are leaving for France May 21 and will be in Annecy for a week (probably too much time, but my husband has a conference there so I need to find stuff to do).

May be I come too late for your trip?

The best way to tour around the lake is to cycle. There are nice easy bike paths.

There are also boats, either regular boats that stop at each village:

or tourist cruises :

The loveliest place is Talloires, you may enjoy a drink at the abbaye hotel bar, have a look:
