metro or bus to Westin

Hi,

We will be arriving in Paris on Sat. morning (5/31). Can anyone provide the best way to arrive at Westin (3 Rue De Castiglione) from CDG. I have researched some but there doesn%26#39;t seem to be a Metro stop extremely close, but would prefer metro over bus. Taxi seems quite expensive would prefer to use may shrinking dollars eating. TIA

The Westin isn%26#39;t that far from two Metro stops, it%26#39;s %26quot;in between%26quot; Concorde and Tuileries stops on the #1 line, so you%26#39;d change from the RER at Chatelet. It%26#39;s an easy walk from either station.

The taxi could be 60 Euros, so I understand your concern.

Be sure you get a renovated room at the Westin, take the negative reviews of the unrenovated rooms at the Westin found here at TA very seriously, because they tell the truth: those unrenovated rooms can be pretty nasty. I know, I stayed in one two years ago, and their renovations are taking forever.

The hotel is in a fantastic location, you won%26#39;t be disappointed about that.

The Tuileries metro station is only around the corner and a block away from the Westin.

But, rather than transfer at Chatelet/Les Halles, I%26#39;d get off the RER at Gare du Nord and take the #42 bus. If you get off just before Place de la Concorde, it%26#39;s about a five minutes walk to the Westin.

Or, you could take Roissybus to Opera. Westin is about a ten minute walk from there. In my opinion, easier to manage than transferring at Chatelet/Les Halles. You can also catch bus #42 from Opera to Place de la Concorde.

I think djkbooks makes a good suggestion about using the Roissybus and getting off at Opera.

After an all-night flight, if the weather is decent (i.e., not cold and not raining), that 10-minute walk with rolling luggage is actually going to feel pretty good and invigorating.

Note also, depending on where you land at CDG, it can be quite a hike to the RER station. There are Roissybus stops not far from each of the terminal exits. And, you pay the bus driver - no waiting in the ticket line for the RER.

With the RER, you have to be especially vigilant to protect yourselves against pickpockets. Especially going through Chatelet/Les Halles.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. We can walk easily so ease of travel will be our main consideration. Hoping for one of the few good rooms at the never-ending renovated Westin, but we will be in Paris for the first time so it will take alot to dampen our spirit.

If you read through the reviews here for the Westin, you%26#39;ll find the name and e-mail address of the general manager with %26quot;please feel free to contact me...%26quot;

You might want to e-mail a request for a renovated room.
