in american? does anyone mind sharing? my dream trip is paris and although it is years away I thought i%26#39;d see about how much it is costing for 2 adults. for the hotel flight and spending

Please tell us what time of the year (month or season) you%26#39;re thinking, how long you plan on staying, and what type of hotel accomodations do you typically stay in (luxury, budget, hostel).

My husband and I waent in March of 2006 for Spring Break. Airline tickets were 760.00 r/t from Houston.
Hotel was 630 euros for a twin bedded room for 7 nights at Hotel du Champ de mars. We spent around $3600 and felt that we had a very good trip.

Last year I stayed in a nice hotel, went to alot of sights, ate well. I spent about $2,500 plus airfare. Hotel was about $150.00 a night. I am single and stayed for 7 nights.

My daughter and her boyfriend went to Paris in February for 5 days. Flights and hotel approx 500 British pounds. They were on a budget and had 600 euros with them, got 300 of them stolen on first day so had a total of 300 euros for 4 days between them. Incidentally, they had a ball, having their money stolen however was the difference between eating out a few times in nice restaurants and eating very cheaply!!! So all in probably about 700 British pounds for 5 days, dont know how that would equate in american dollars.

I just returned from 9 days in Paris. I stayed in the 7th and rented an apartment on rue champ de Mars just off of Rue Cler. The trip cost about $5,000 and that is for one person. Airfare and apartment were about $3,000 and I spent about $2,000 for food, transportation and entertainment. A pint of beer near any tourist attraction is 9 euros which translates to 14 American dollars which is just plain nutty. Hopefully by the time you go the exchange rate will be better. I did absolutely no shopping. I had a wonderful time but I%26#39;m not sure it was worth $5,000.

You could go with a tour group like, EF, and save a lot of money. I used to be a tour director with them, and I think for a week (2 meals a day, transportation, hotel, flight) it was a little over 1k. But it%26#39;s budget stuff all the way: 2 star hotels, sub-par food.

Can%26#39;t help you with flights etc as I%26#39;m in the UK. However, once you%26#39;ve sorted that out, I%26#39;d suggest start thinking in Euros rather than dollars: it%26#39;s good practice for your trip and you will soon get to grips with the cost of things. Booking your hotel direct avoids travel companies%26#39; commission and is nearly always cheaper (at least it is in the budget end of the market where I am!)
As regards spending money (after hotel and breakfast paid) I always allow about 75 Euro per person per day. This is very roughly:- (all prices in Euro) bus/metro day ticket just under 6, coffee/beer stops 15, entry to something - average 10, lunch 10, dinner 34. Dinner can cost you anything from about 20 to 200, but you can get a good meal for about 30-35. Wine will add more to your daily spend.
Hope that helps.

Kebabs,
It%26#39;s nice to think in Euros when you%26#39;re there, but when you get back home and get your credit card bill, it%26#39;s 1.57 times that -- American Dollars. OUch! I think the poster is tryint to figure out what it would cost him to go.
My suggestion is pick a date that you would like to go and see what airfare would cost, then see how much a hotel would cost for the same time, use a rough guess for food, entertainment, etc. Then add at least 20%. There are all kinds of travelers with all kinds of budgets. You just have to decide which kind are you.

If you go before mid-May or in the fall or winter, you should be able to get a lovely hotel (I suggest in the 7th; everything can be reached easily and quickly by Metro or by lots of walking) for about $200/night. It will not be the Ritz. We stayed in a hotel frequented by embassy staff members. Food costs can drive you crazy; we ate onion soup and crepes and were very happy. We dined very well one evening for about $150, but you can spend much more. And now there%26#39;s the airfare; if you can drive to a major hub, you will save lots if you catch a sale. Otherwise, the cas seems to be triple what was available a few years ago. Bon Voyage!
