Paris in January-Getting in early

Hi,

Have a stop over for three nights in January, travelling with two children under 10 yrs.

Question%26#39;s: Place to stay that is central and wont break the bank or have to get a 2nd mortagage on the house.

Museum pass sound%26#39;s good where do you get one from, dont know if the kids will be interested tromping around though.

What would they find interesting, any good day trips by tour companies that can be recommended.

Must do other than Eiffel tower, lourve ect?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks

When we went to Paris during spring break we stayed at the Citadines by the Louvre. It was a great location and perfect for families. It has a small kitchen which was nice to cook our own meals and save some money. If you are only going to be there 3 nights I don%26#39;t know if it is worth it to get a museum pass. My daughters, ages 12 and 10 enjoyed the Louvre, Orsay, and the Orangerie. We also went to Victor Hugo%26#39;s house which was interesting. They also loved the Eiffel Tower and the Champs Elyse. You don%26#39;t need to take any tour company trips. It was fun to just walk around and explore! My daughters fell in love with Paris and can%26#39;t wait to go back.

We saw a large ice skating rink and some other snow related activities taking place last January when we were in Paris. I think your kids might enjoy that. A little time in the Luxembourg Gardens or the Tuileries Gardens if the weather permits. If the Ferris wheel is still up that would be a great thing to do.

Citadines is a good suggestion.

Hotel des Baind hsd a suite overlooking a quiet courtyard with 1 large bed and 2 twins. It is on rue Delambre, very near Blvd du Montparnasse and the Luxembourg Garden. It is in the 14th arr but the 6th starts at end of street. Many cafes and restaurants there as well as convenience stores. Chez Clement is very popular with families.

Kids go free into museums and you do not need pass to go to Louvre. It is easy to buy ticket from vending machine. Only places you have to wait outside for a bit are Orsay and Orangerie. For those you can get tickets at Fnac.

A museum pass for 2 days is 30 Euros and you do not max it out unless you see at least 3 museums per day which is a lot with kids.

Tour companies like the double decker bus are good to see the city without walking too much. Useful for jetlagged kids.
