rail from Lyon to Lucerne to Verona?

Five of us senior ladies looking forward to spending 5 weeks in a farm house outside Lyon June/July and 2 of us are hoping to do some rail trips Switzerland/Italy. Any suggestions.......Maybe just 5 or 6 days at a time as we would rather see one area properly than try to do everything. Is there overnight train travel in this area? Grateful for any feedback.

You can go Lyon-Verona by changing onto the Paris-Venice night train at Dijon. No suitable night train for Lyon-Lucern, and while it would be possible to use one for part of the journey from Lucerne to Verona, daytime trains would be easier.

Use reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en… to check your journey times, then click on %26#39;details for all%26#39;to find the train numbers (which are also clickable). Train numbers beginning EN are night trains.
