Day Trips from Lyon?

I will be spending about 2 weeks in Lyon for a graduate course. I will have one weekend to explore in Lyon. Any suggestions for day-trips from Lyon. I enjoy hiking - are their any trails that I could get to w/out driving?

If not, are there any vineyards that I could visit?

Yes there are day trips possibilities without any car. May I suggest that you start with a little search on this forum, as the question has already been asked before? For example follow this thread:

Regarding hiking around Lyon: yes there are easy access trails, both hiking and cycling, but not available on the web. You will have to ask the tourist office when you will arrive.
