France + Texas =Love

So, there is a rumor that goes around TX and OK that Europeans wont hate you so much if you are from Texas--especially the French.

I think that sounds a little out there--apparently they liked us because we were a country ourselves at one time--how stupid!

Any idea where this comes from--I%26#39;d love to here the Parisian%26#39;s thoughts

Interesting. I heard the contrary.

|||

Maybe they just love your accent and they like cowboy movies??

|||

Honestly, the average French person doesn%26#39;t spend their time thinking about Americans nor do they blanketly hate americans, Texan or otherwise. They have other things on their mind.

|||

Well, I%26#39;m European, and I%26#39;m not sure how we%26#39;re supposed to know whether you%26#39;re from Texas or OK (Oklahoma?) I can%26#39;t differentiate accents from different states, so I doubt it would be easy for a Parisian. I suppose if you travelled around dressed as a cowboy / girl?

Someone%26#39;s winding someone up ...

|||

Must be the hat.

Well, according to our French friends in Nantes, they and many French frieds of theirs do like cowboys and %26quot;Westerns,%26quot; so maybe they associate that with Texas.

Another representative or image of Texas for the French is 7-time Tour de France winner Lance Amstrong, whose fans waved Texas flags all along the race course. Of course, it may not be a positive connection now, since many French think (correctly, I believe) that he doped to win like the rest of the riders of that era.

|||

Or maybe the opposite is true, isn%26#39;t George Bush a Texan- albeit transplanted?

The French don%26#39;t hate Americans, Texans, New Yorkers, Floridians or any others, they just hate %26quot;Ugly%26quot; Americans. Apparently, this is a myth that refuses to die it%26#39;s deserved death despite the valiant efforts of many!
