I arrive in Paris on the 31st August 2008 and fly out on the 6th September. My uncle lives in Les Vans (near Nimes) and I am trying to work out how to get there from Paris. I am hoping I can base myself in Paris and catch the TGV early one morning, spend the day with him and then catch the TGV back to Paris later that night.
Is it reasonable to think i can get to Les Vans and back in a day. Would it be better to hire a car from Paris or would it be better to stop over a night with my Uncle?

looks like Montelimar is the closest TGV station. There is no train to Les Vans. Can your uncle come pick you up at the train station? Otherwise you could hire a car at the station.

Thanks so much for the quick reply, I%26#39;m looking on the rail europe website and it doesn%26#39;t have that town listed as a destination. Does this sound right to you? What about Avignon or is that too far?
I may be able to get my Uncle to pick me up otherwise a cab would be fine. It also looks like there are a few early morning and late evening trains so I%26#39;m happy to do the round trip in a day.

Nimes isnt much further so that should work. Les Vans is 88 km from Nimes. Avignon is 105 km away. Thats going to be an expensive taxi ride.
