Has anybody here had experience with using their American I-Phone with an AT%26amp;T plan in France?....I am told it will work fine.

Yes it works just fine. Just have a seat before you open your bill.

As MorganB says, it will work fine. The way you could end up with a high bill is if it%26#39;s constantly checking for e-mail because it%26#39;s a steady string of data charges. You can set it so it doesn%26#39;t do that (you will have to check manually from time to time, but it%26#39;s much less expensive). Take a look at the instructions (or better yet, talk to someone at an AT%26amp;T store where they are sold, because they were very helpful about things like that when we wanted to be able to use ours in France).
I think that to use it as a phone in France (not just for e-mail and internet) you do need to have it specifically set up for international use (although there was no difficulty with that - just be sure that%26#39;s how your account is set up).

Thanks for the help...I just wanted to make sure people have had service without problem. I do plan on buying an international data plan as well as international roaming....both greatly reduce the cost, especially the data plan. I also did read about turning off data roaming when not using.....THANKS again!

Yeah I had both plans and my bill was still over $300 more than usual! Ouch.
