Will I like these restuarants??

Ok - ....I do not want to spend a lot of money - I have eaten the 45 euro menu at Violon d%26#39;Ingres and loved it and thought great value; eaten at Cafe Constant and loved it as well.

I have one Saturday night and one Sunday lunch and one Sunday night in June. Staying in the 7th. Does it souund like i would like

La varangue

Cafe de Mars

L%26#39;Epi Dupin

Les Bouquinistes

Le Petit Pamphlet

Petit Vatel in the 6th

Chez l’Ami Jean

or something else????

I do not care for fish, or offal or ground meats etc. I grew up in Africa and ate it all (you name it I ate it as it was the early 60%26#39;s and we had to be adventerous..for 6 years...) then spent 3 years in a British boarding school where I was served lots of offal (tripe, kidneys, sweatbreads, liver, heart etc). so it is from experience that I know I do not like it..it is not because I am a finiky eater. Well - I guess I am a finiky eater - but at least I have eaten all the stuff that I no longer wish to eat. I adore pate.

That being said - any one care to help me decide where to spend my precious eating hours in paris? 45 europer personis about all I would really want to spend - if possible would like less. I am not a gourmet - but I do like good food and adore Chef Constants cooking - but would like to try something new..

Anyone?

Thanks

In the 7th:

Le P%26#39;tit Troquet, on 28 rue de L%26#39;Exposition

and just down the street, Fontaine de Mars at 129 rue St. Dominique

Both are excellent, not %26quot;gourmet%26quot;, but still delightful restaurants. Google them, TA Search them, and you%26#39;ll see plenty of positive comments about them.

Thanks for the new suggestions.

Does anyone have any comments on the other restuarants as to whether they sound like what I am looking for..or not???

Thx

There are many new restaurants in Paris. The ones on your list have been there forever so I assume that if they are still there they must be doing something right !

If you like cafe Constant, go back! I believe in favorites.

He just openend a new restaurant lately, also in the 7th but cannot remember name right this minute.

We recently revisited some restaurants like Bouillon Racine, Polidor, Allard and le Procope and they are still the same, predictably good if not great.

When one has survived boarding school food think many here would be Lucullus

Surely pate contains certain verboten ingredients

Bon appetit

The Cafe de Mars, assuming it is the one on the Champs de Mars, seemed to me to be a good, basic French restaurant. We split a good salad and steak frites there and were very satisfied. We don%26#39;t eat dinner there regularly but will stop for a drink and pehaps a snack - an omelette or escargo, e.g.

I loved L%26#39;Epi Dupin and didnt have offal there. I think it was guinea fowl and excellent. There%26#39;s a foodie I trust on the NY Forum who loved Les Bouquinistes.

Thanks for the replies.

Some of these I found on Chowhoud, others on Rick Steves, Egullet and TA. Whereas I love Chef Constant I do want try and expand my experiences - without breaking the bank. I so wish I had the money to spend on food that i woud like to spend on food but I do not. I would hate to have a meal ruined becasue I could not afford the bill...as I said above 45 euro per person is about all I would really want to spend - and if possible would like less...... I am not a gourmet - but I do like good food.

So -if anyone has any other comments about the restuarants that I listed - or other - then let me know.

La varangue

Cafe de Mars

L%26#39;Epi Dupin

Les Bouquinistes

Le Petit Pamphlet

Petit Vatel in the 6th

Chez l’Ami Jean

Otherwise...Thanks for the replies so far
