Am I doing this right?

Our first ever trip to Paris happens in 80 days! We are spending almost an entire Saturday at Versailles.

I would like us to be at the chateaux well before opening, so we can have some relative peace in the palace before the tours arrive.

Having never navigated the Metro/RER before, can you experienced folks review my attempt, and correct/revise my route?

The Metro stop near our hotel is CDG Etoile. The route I planned:

#1 to Champs Elysee

#13 to Invalides

C5 to Versailles/Rive Gauche

Am I making it too difficult-or not making it all?! LOL!!

Also, What time would we have to hit the trains to arrive early?

Hello Maybee,

Sorry if you feel that this is stating the obvious, BUT - I%26#39;m not sure I understand this.

The Palace (ie the building) is closed UNTIL opening hours, so you won%26#39;t get IN there, let alone any peace UNTIL it opens?!?!? (I doubt you will get any peace within the Palace building!)

Unless you want to just wander the grounds, then you might be OK??

Perhaps this will help:

Thanks for replying!

Sorry, I should have been more clear,,,I would like to arrive early enough to be up front in the queue to get in...and I don%26#39;t know how often the trains run..is it like New York where there is a subway train every few minutes, etc,,,I just want to plan to be up and outta the hotel and on the proper train in plenty of time to be FIRST on line! (just kidding, but I would like to be in there as early as possible..)

That%26#39;s why I would like someone to critique my route..

OK Maybee

This information gleaned from the website that I have posted, first of all - you can get your Versailles entrance ticket alongside your train ticket if you buy at certain places:

%26lt;%26lt;The SNCF (French National Railway Company) offers the “Palace of Versailles Recreation Pass”, which combines a return ticket from the palace and a “Day Pass” for the Palace of Versailles. The “Recreation Pass” allows you to take advantage of a preferential price and privileged access to the palace. It may be purchased at: Transilien SNCF ticket booths in zone 1 to 6 stations – at the Ile-de France Tourist Office located at the Carrousel du Louvre%26gt;%26gt;

Second, the Versailles website links to the train timetables on THIS page:

transilien.com/web/…recherche-trajet

I%26#39;m sure you can work it out from there!

The Journey time from Central Paris to Versailles is anywhere from 19 to 35 mins depending on which train you catch, AND the trains start at around 5.30am!!
