Hi all,
This will be my first trip to the French Riviera and I am very excited. However, I understand that the beaches around Nice are pebbly and not sandy. Would you happen to know in which area of the south of France the beaches are sandy, if any?
Thanks in advance! :)

Hi AM MTL,
You have great Sandy beaches in the surrounding areas around Nice, like Antibes, Villefranche, and of course, Cannes, which is a distance away, but worth the trip. You might also treat yourself to the beach clubs in Nice, where you can rent a chaisse, umbrella, and have a glass of wine, or a cool beer, and watch the Med in luxury. But you still have to deal with the pebbles. If so, take rubber shoes to avoid the torture of the pebbles, and it%26#39;s not that bad. These beaches cost about 12-15 Euros. Enjoy!

There are some free beaches in between Golfe Juan and Juan Les Pins all are sandy and are cleaned each night.

In general just about all public beaches are pebble beaches until you get out to Antibes to the west of Nice. The pebbles aren%26#39;t to bad. Unless you are going just for the beaches ( which I doubt) I wouldn%26#39;t choose location just based on this. It also depends when you are going - July and August - the beaches are extremely busy. If you are willing to pay the private beaches are good especially those in Cannes and at La Garoupe on the Cap D%26#39;antibes. I always go for 1 day of relaxation to Plage Joseph here - great restaurant attached to lovely sandy beach at great location.
