I%26#39;ve seen the beautiful pictures of the lavender fields in France---- any near Paris without having to go too far from the city?
And, any specific time of year?

Lavender filds will be found in the Luberon area mostly, close to Gordes actually. Blooming period is May and early June.

As the others say, lavender is generally associated with Provence http://www.routes-lavande.com/indexgb.html It will grow throughout France in gardens, flowering in summer, but I don%26#39;t think it%26#39;s grown commercially anywhere else. In northern France, nearer Paris, you%26#39;re more likely to get fields of sunflowers :-)

The thing with the lavender is that it%26#39;s grown in relatively hot and dry climate areas - which Paris is not. But, if you have a long enough visit you could get the TGV down into Provence for an overnight (if you%26#39;re there at the right time of year, don%26#39;t recall from your earlier posts) and spend an afternoon doing something like that. It really is an amazing sight when a whole large field is in bloom (same with the huge fields of sunflowers), although I%26#39;m not sure personally I would make a special trip down there for that (on the other hand, the same areas where you would find fields of lavender have lots of other wonderful things to offer, so again if you%26#39;re in France for a couple of weeks it might be something you would enjoy as a shot side trip).
