Looking for a hard-wired connection to internet

Hello, all,

I just joined TripAdvisor, but having been reading the posts for months. I%26#39;ve appreciated the information and the generosity of your members.

I am in Paris for two months. I%26#39;m renting apts. I brought my own computer with wireless capability.

I need to do some internet banking while I%26#39;m here, but am loathe to trust WiFi connections with those transactions (even though I know the banking sites are encrypted).

Does anyone know of a shop, cafe, cybercafe, etc., which offers a plug-in (ethernet) hard-wired connection to the internet? (I know some hotels offer this, but I won%26#39;t be staying at any...)

I am just looking for a secure way to do said banking, using my own computer. (I%26#39;ve read the other earlier posts on the topic but didn%26#39;t see a mention of finding a hard-wired connection.)

Thank you very much, in advance.

As long as you are using a wireless connection from an hotel or small business provider (point internet) you should be secure if you are using WPA encryption. WEP encryption is no longer secure and can now be compromised in minutes.

You should be able to find a location which will allow you to hard wire into their network. Some, weary of viruses you could leave, may not. In the past I have unplugged the network connection of an internet cafe%26#39;s computer and plugged in my laptop and felt reasonably secure.

Don%26#39;t forget to carry your own RJ-45 cable.

Here is a good resource:
