Hello all:
My husband and I were able to get a very good deal on some last minute tickets and will be leaving home in two weeks (!). We would like to drive from Nice to Barcelona and have about a week/week and a half traveling time.
Where should we go? What roads on the coast should we not miss? Which areas should we just take the highway to go through quickly?
We would prefer to stick to the coast, stay out of the big cities and love places like Eze.
Help would really be appreciated. I started to plan the details of this trip on my own and have quickly become overwhelmed.

Mmm. So many options, but a few suggestions here to research (although no very small places like Eze I%26#39;m afraid).
The coast road is often attractive until just before Marseille, though it%26#39;s winding, parts are heavily trafficed, and you might well want to miss out crawls along the seafronts of larger towns like Cannes and Toulon. Some smaller towns of interest might be Antibes, St Tropez (it%26#39;s OK in May), Hyeres, and definitely Cassis.
Between Marseille and Perpignan you may be best sticking to the Autoroute. Diversions of interest could be to Nimes (though it might be a bit big for you?), Aigues-Mortes, Pezanas.
Return to the coast after Perpignan and go to Collioure and Cadaques. I don%26#39;t know the last bit of coast.

Hi Kelly,
You%26#39;ve a lot of road there!
I agree with some suggestions here already. Marseille is great around the port area, a one night stop I reckon. Aigues Mortes is another definite, a walled medieval town, I know it well.
From here you can day-trip into the Camargue, go to L%26#39;Espiguette beach, eat seafood along the port in Le Grau Du Roi, shopping in Montpellier( 15m drive), wine taste at Montcalm and Listel.Visit Les Arenes in Arles or in Nimes and see a bullfight/Camarguise(bloodless). Le pont du Gard (unesco site) is about an hour%26#39;s drive inland from Aigues Mortes. Onwards to Barcelona it%26#39;s about 4-5 hrs drive direct.
Hope this helps
